WELCOME

I’m Olivia – the hands, heart, and stitcher-in-chief behind Blodau; where flowers meet fabric and slow fashion blooms.
Blodau means flowers in Welsh – a nod to my roots and the natural beauty that inspires what I make. I design and create one-of-a-kind clothing, naturally dyed, hand-stitched, and made from sustainable, biodegradable fabrics in my UK “studio” (otherwise known as the spare room).

Made slowly, with intent, and inspired by nature.

About Blodau

Blodau – Welsh for flowers – bloomed from my love of making clothes and my belief that fashion and responsibility can coexist. Every garment is made by me, from sketch to stitch, in a kind, transparent process (fuelled by far too much tea). I work mainly with peace silk – a gentler form of silk where silkworms are free to emerge naturally. Each piece is coloured with natural pigments from flowers and plants, avoiding synthetic dyes and plastic fibres. It’s a closed loop process, where the water is safely and responsibly disposed of in my garden, where I’m growing my own dye plants!

My aim is to create clothes that feel as good as they look. Garments that tread lightly, but leave a lasting impression.

The Collection

A small collection with a big heart

Each dress is made from peace silk and other fully biodegradable materials, dyed with hues of natural dyes including marigold yellow, madder pink, and indigo blue.

The Process

From seed to stitch, every Blodau piece follows a circular journey. I source all my natural my dyes from UK suppliers. Dye pigments are extracted gently, and dye baths reused to remove waste. No toxic chemicals. No mass production.  Every piece is dyed, cut, sewn, and finished by me – keeping the process ethical and traceable.

Commissions

Thinking about a handmade dress, something naturally dyed and totally personal? Let’s bring it to life!

It all begins with a chat – on email, or over a cuppa if you’re local – and turns into a one-of-a-kind piece made just for you. Together we’ll choose fabrics, colours, and details that feel right for you (and kind to the earth).

Behind the seams

A look behind the scenes – from flower to fabric. My journal covers the slow making process, natural dyeing, creative tangents and the small moments that make it all worthwhile.
